King. Country. Love.
He can choose only one.

Neill Waryn is known throughout England as the champion knight who can not lose. His victory at the Tournament of Peace is the only one that matters to him, however, for it earns him a boon from the English king. Rather than ask for wealth or riches, he requests that the king remove the corrupt official who is destroying the fragile peace along the border between England and Scotland. His brothers and sister are borderers, and nothing matters more to him than their safety.

Neill's reward doesn't come without a price—he is asked to promise himself to one of the queen's favored ladies. Although he's reluctant to enter into an arranged marriage, it's a price he's willing to pay. Until he meets Kathryn Baird. The beauty is clearly a highborn lady, yet she's working at The Wild Boar inn as a common servant. He's immediately intrigued by her, and when she petitions him to bring her to Scotland, he finds he can't refuse. Little does he know Kathryn’s mysterious past will play into his own attempts to restore peace at the border.

Fate has brought them together, but is it powerful enough to overcome a promise made to the king?

Sir Neill Waryn is the youngest of the brothers and has worked hard to prove himself to be a fearless warrior.  He has just won the tournament of peace and asked the King for a very special Boon.  Hopefully that will help bring peace back to the boarders.
Kathryn Baird is working at an inn and hiding who she really is until she can find a way to confront her father's killer.
He was an important messenger for the King,  but someone didn't want that last message delivered.
This is an exciting addition to a great series.  You could read it on it's own but you will meet the rest of the family that have been in the previous books,  so that might spoil them for you.
Lots of danger and intrigue for both our characters. They will travel from one royal court to another to find a murderer and try and bring peace,  maybe at a very high cost to themselves.
I loved it.

Cecelia Mecca is the author of steamy historical romance that transports readers to the middle ages. A former English teacher, Cecelia combines two of her passions, romance novels and the middle ages, transporting readers to an admittedly romanticized time of knights and castles. Her first series, set along the Anglo-Scottish border in 13th century Northumbria, turned Cecelia from educator to full-time author. Readers love the Border Series for its focus on well-developed characters and their steamy relationships leading to satisfying happily ever afters. Cecelia lives in Northeast, Pennsylvania with her husband and two young children where she can be found either planning a Disney trip, watching period dramas or convincing her children to watch Star Wars. She is firmly House Stark and Gryffindor.
