A short medieval romance.
Sybille has been left in charge of her three little brothers.  Her parents and older brothers have gone to Paris to sell the last of the family valuables.
Eustache has bought the fortress and all within it, including Sybille and her brothers.  He has a brutal reputation, but fires up her blood.

A good but short taste of the lives of the lesser ranks in medieval times. A fun, sexy read.

The Darkland by Kathryn Le Veque.

A wonderful medieval romance, from one of my favourite authors.

Sir Kirk Connaught has arrived to take Lady Micheline le Bec to her betrothed. The contract was signed by her father  before his death . He used her to settle his debts to Lord Edmund de Cleveley. She is all ready to leave but, her slightly younger sister Mara wants to stay behind and is being difficult. There is no way that she can stay because Micheline is her only guardian. 

Kirk must somehow get the very stubborn young woman off the edge and into his care. Kirk is a strong and brave knight but this hellion is trying his temper.

Micheline and Mara have had a strange upbringing for ladies of their rank. 

The keep they are travelling to has a very bad reputation. Several young women have vanished without trace. The Lord and his sister are truly vile people. When Mara finds out how bad Darkland is she is very worried that her sister and her might be the next to die.

Although Kirk is an honourable knight he is sworn to obey his Lord. He has always been away from the keep when the women vanish and does not know what has been happening. He vows to Mara that he will keep both of them safe . That is much easier said than done. 

This is a story with what looks like a straight forward romance but quickly turns dangerous. Our hero is maybe a little too trusting. Our heroine is too headstrong for anyone´s good. She tends to cause trouble when she is trying to protect someone. The villains of the book are worse than any I have read about before. Madness only accounts for so much the rest is pure evil.

A wonderful adventure into the twisted and complicated lives of the people of Darkland. 

I have never read a book by this author that I haven´t loved.  

Master of Surrender.Blood Sword Legacy #1 by Karin Tabke.

This is a historical romance set in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Hastings. 

When Rohan and his men break down the doors to Rossmore they are faced with just a single woman with a dagger in her hand and a sword at her feet. Isabel faced down the Norman who dared to ride his war horse into the keep.
Rohan is contemptuous of the cowards who allow their Lady to defend them while they hide.
The Lady Isabel is prepared to give anything to spare the lives of her people.
There are many raids in the area that Rohan must settle if he is going to win the peace for the land he has claimed.
The battle of wills between Rohan and Isabel is as fiery as any on the battlefield. 

A wonderful story rich in the kind of details of live in the era that I like. Rohan's Blood Swords are a great collection of knights that I am looking forward to reading more about. There are some very sexy scenes and lots of excitement.  I loved it.

A marvellous medieval historical romance. 

Linet is a wool merchant,  working her first year in the guild since her father's death. Her father was born a nobleman but was cast out by his family for marrying a commoner. Linet Is a bit of a snob, always aware of the difference in class between herself and the common people. She has unfortunately made a dangerous enemy.
Duncan de Ware is the eldest of the de Ware brothers and has always been at his happiest helping the poor and taking in strays.
Duncan is at the village fair in disguise when Linet attracts trouble and he takes it on himself to be her protector. That turns into the start of a disastrous series of events that goes from bad to worse. Linet has No idea who the man who insists on protecting her is, but she knows she doesn't need or want his type of help.

I found this book so much fun. I think Duncan should have just spanked Linet to bring her down a few pegs. He is far too gentle for that. They have a very difficult journey with Duncan forever rescuing Linet from problems she  causes.
There are love scenes but sweet not hot. I can't wait to read the other brothers stories.  I loved every page.

He has just rescued his battered  little sister from a marriage to a nearby Laird by force.  His brother insists a marriage must take place, and picks the worst possible bride for Ruan as a punishment.  When Ruan finds himself married to a terrified Bree he declares that he will have the marriage annulled when it is safe. Until then he must find a way to protect Bree and his sister from his brother who wants him dead. The broken relationships of this family will never be mended. They have to travel all over the highlands to get to safety.
 This is an unusual story, in that the hero is not at all conquering Laird. And the heroine takes a long time to fall for him.

CLAIMING, A medieval romance by Saskia Knight.

Lady Rowena's father has recently died, and she is devastated to find little that her inheritance is dependant on taking a husband. The husband her father chose for her is Sir Saher  de Bohan.
Rowena has many reasons not to want a husband.  Some are because of the smuggling that she and her father were involved in. The other is a personal fear.

I enjoyed this book. It has a bit of adventure and a lovely romance. Our hero is strong, gentle and determined.  Our heroine is also strong and determined but vulnerable.
