Impossible Ransome. by Kathleen Mix. ARC Review. Romantic Thriller/Suspense.

Working as part of a yacht crew sounded like the perfect escape for senator's daughter Val Ferrell. Glorious Caribbean beaches, turquoise seas, and freedom from her overbearing father? Heaven. But when the ship is hijacked by violent men—who want to use Val to get to her father—Val's fantasy turns into a nightmare she can't escape.

Now her only hope is the ship's captain, who happens to be her ex-lover.

After disobeying an order, covert operative Nick O’Shea's been assigned yacht captain duty. Working side-by-side by the tiny blonde who makes him crazy—and keeping his hands off her—was definitely punishment. But when Val's life is endangered, Nick must choose between keeping her aboard the boat or risking their lives out in the isolated Caribbean. And with a storm moving in fast, he's running out of time...

Nick O'Shea is a Ranger for a private security firm. He is being punished for going against orders. So has to captain a pleasure boat for his penance. Trouble start before he is even on board.
Valeria Ladd is battling two men who are trying to come aboard the yacht she works on.  The last person she expects to see helps her.
They see the bad guys off, but that is just the beginning of their problems.
A book full of adventure on the high seas,  deadly danger on a desert island and the tension that brews between ex lovers. Our heroine is a spoiled rich girl trying to be independent from daddy. She is a lot stronger than even she thinks. Our hero is a bad boy carrying a heavy load of guilt.
A gripping story that keeps the pages flying past. I loved it.

Kathleen Mix writes stories with a thrilling mix of romance and suspense.
She took an indirect route to becoming an author. After her three sons started school, she returned to college and earned a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering. Working as a software engineer, she consulted on applications ranging from submarine combat systems to biological research databases.
Weekends and vacations were always reserved for boating. And as an avid sailor and licensed charter boat captain, the itch to sail away into the sunset soon became too strong to resist. She and her husband moved aboard their sailboat and headed south. By the time they reached the Caribbean, they were hooked on a cruising life. Since then, Kathleen has spend many years roaming the U.S. coastline, exploring the Bahamas, and enjoying the tropical islands of the Caribbean and the coastal countries of South America.
She began her writing career with non-fiction sailing and travel articles. But she was sailing to lush, exotic islands under starry skies and walking on the most beautiful, white-sand beaches in the world. She started imagining stories of romance and adventure and turned to writing romantic suspense.
Kathleen now sails on Chesapeake Bay. But her heart remains far away in the Caribbean and the Bahamas. For her thoughts on life and books,
