The Art of Kissing Beneath the Mistletoe (Impostors #3) by Tanya Anne Crosby. Historical Romance ARC Review.

Add To

Once upon a time, Alexandra Grace Huntington believed in fairy tales. She oohed and aahed over gowns from Courtauld’s, never wore black unless in mourning, always minded her social graces, and never,  ever  indulged her inner bluestocking. Now her world has come crashing down like a thousands shards of glass. Her father is a dastard, her mother blames her for taking his side. (Rightly so, considering what Lexie has learned.) She’s home alone for the holidays, all alone, no siblings, no friends, and not a shred of pride remaining. But that’s all well and good, so far as Alexandra is concerned, because everything she thought she knew was wrong. Her best friend, Claire Wentworth had it right all along, and the Universe had seen fit to reward Claire with, of all things, a crown (quite literally). However, while Lexie once aspired to the same, she has changed. When she’s unexpectedly invited to celebrate one last holiday with her best friend, she can’t accept quickly enough… only how did one comport oneself after everything that was said and done?
Benjamin W. Wentworth III, the seventh Earl of Highbury, has been through his own travails. He nearly drove his family to ruin, and now, after spending weeks in debtor’s prison because of Alexandra's father, and coming shockingly close to losing his life and endangering his sweet sister, he realizes that all that glitters is simply not gold. The last thing he desires is to saddle himself with a woman like Alexandra Huntington, with whom he once shared a passion for the Season. Now, he’d rather choke himself with a silk cravat than endure an instant with someone so vain, so self-indulgent, so giddy and witless. He only wishes his sister would leave off with the holiday matchmaking—must’t she realize how much he has changed?  When Lexie arrives to celebrate one final Christmas before his sister leaves for Meridian, it is all he can do to avoid the empty-headed chit. Unfortunately, his sister and her friends have festooned the entire house with mistletoe, and to make matters worse, Lexie is proving to be someone else entirely, and he’s about to remember the art of kissing beneath the mistletoe.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Alexandra Huntington once had two best friends,  but after what her father did to them she is frightened that they will blame her.  Her father is now in prison and her mother, who she has fallen out with lives in the countryside.  So this Christmas season is going to be rather lonely,  with only the servants for company.
Ben Wentworth, Earl of Highbury is recovering after his imprisonment.  He was stupid enough to trust the wrong person and nearly got himself and his sister killed,  or worse.
Luckily his sister has found her Prince charming and everyone is safe and happy again.  Well nearly everyone.  A wedding and a birth are imminent over this Christmas season.
This is part of a series and I think, to truly enjoy this story it's best to have read the others.
We have fabulous characters that have been through a nightmare and are trying to find a new direction in life.
A very enjoyable read.

Put a menu in front of me and I immediately don't know what I want. Fried green tomatoes with grits? Yep, OK. Fish? Sounds good, too. OK, so what are you having? I'll do that too. When it comes to shoes--forget it. I end up buying nothing because I can't make up my mind. Thank God I have a husband who has great tastes, or my closet might be empty. I'm one of those people who suffers from acute ambivalence given too many choices, but when it comes to what I wanted to do with my life, I've known that decidedly since the age of 12--and probably long before that. It all began once upon a time after a tonsillectomy, when the doc advised mom and dad they should reward me with anything I wanted (the key word here being anything). All I wanted was dad's typewriter. I got it, of course--a black, sporty Olympia I immediately set out to wearing the letters off the keys. So here I am all these years later, with sixteen books under my belt and a new one on the way ... still wearing the letters off keyboards ... and loving every minute.

This book is the second in the series and it´s best to read the other one first.

Fire Song (Daughters of Avalon #3) by Tanya Anne Crosby. Magical/Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

Seren Pendragon has been praised for her gentility, and yet, deep down, she is anything but serene. Her mother is a witch, her sisters are in peril, and she is promised to a beast of a man who has already purportedly murdered one king. When she and her sister find a chance to escape Morwen’s clutches, they seize it, but neither realizes how much their struggle will change the fates. Alas, it will take a terrible tragedy to unleash Seren’s inner fire.

The Bastard Butcher of Warkworth is no stranger to misfortune. All he held dear vanished one night in a wisp of smoke, and he has been scarred by his encounters with Morwen Pendragon—both mentally and physically. But, when one of the Witch’s daughters finds herself in need, Will must find the champion within and ride to her rescue.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Wilhelm Fitz Richard has traveled down to Dover to find the woman who is supposed to be betrothed to his brother,  the legitimate Lord of Warksworth.  As a bastard who lost all the rest of his family in a fire,  Wilhelm has nothing except his duty to the one remaining brother. He is a little nervous about meeting any more of the daughters of the witch who has manipulated kings.
Seren Pendragon and her sister are trying to reunite with the rest of their sisters,  but there is evil in the air.  The trek through England at this very difficult time in history is especially dangerous with the powers that are flying around.
The characters are fabulous and not always what you expect.
A very exciting but at times confusing story.  Each sister has her own story but,  it is part of a series and will make much more sense when you read the books in order.  I can't wait to read the next book.

Seduced by a Prince (The Prince & The Imposter #1) by Tanya Anne Crosby. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

“Tanya Anne Crosby writes remarkable love stories.” —New York Times bestselling author, Lisa Kleypas
Merrick Welbourne never anticipated discovering a long-lost twin—particularly one who'd rob him and leave him for dead on the road. Now living his brother's aristocratic life, he has new trials, tribulations... and temptations, not the least being Chloe Simon, a woman of rare mettle, proud heart, and unprecedented beauty. But she’s no easy mark for a perceived highwayman.
Chloe Simon knew Lord Lindale was definitely not himself. After encountering the masked highwayman Hawk left for dead, he seemed... somehow different. Maybe more approachable? Infinitely more... desirable. Entirely too irresistible. In a stolen moment of startling intimacy, he makes her feel like titled nobility. But she was only ever a doctor's daughter, with every reason to steer clear of his very kissable lips.

Book 1: Seduced by a Prince Book 2: A Crown for a Lady

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Many years ago Lady Fiona MacEwen thought she was going to marry her Prince.  Unfortunately it didn't quite work out like that.
Now Merrick Welbourne is going to find out who his father has been writing to for years.  He's absolutely stunned by what he finds.  With his father's illness the only way he can find answers is by hiding in plain sight.
Miss Chloe Simon worked alongside her doctor father until his death.  Then the day of his funeral she lost her home and took work as a nurse.  While she's there, hopefully she can find the deeds to her home.
This is a story with lots of complications and secrets.  The characters are fascinating with very good hearts.  That is except the one who is stealing so much that it puts the lives of everyone in the village at risk.
This is the first in what is obviously a duet. I can't wait to read the next one.
I loved it.

A Winter's Rose (Daughters of Avalon #2) by Tanya Anne Crosby. Historical Romance My Review.

Add To

It has been five years since King Stephen took the English throne. The border lands are fraught with tensions. Loyalties are uncertain. Only the strong will hold their lands, and behind every strong man is an even stronger woman.

Facing the grim prospect of a forced marriage to a feckless minion of King Stephen’s, Rosalynde, the defiant youngest daughter of Morwen Pendragon takes matters into her own hands. With the help of her mother’s spell book and a stolen wimple, she disguises herself as a plain, matronly nun and flees her loveless fate…

Giles de Vere, lord of Warkworth, is facing his own arranged marriage—to Rose’s sister, the reclusive Seren, reputed to be the loveliest woman in all of Wales. But destiny has its own wayward plans, and when the bold knight finds himself a reluctant champion to a runaway nun, he hasn’t any clue of the lady’s true identity. All he knows is that while Rose is far from beautiful, there’s something magical about her that speaks to his heart…

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rosalynde Pendragon is descended from a long line of witches.  Unfortunately her mother is very wicked and uses the foulest of all magic.  Rose and her sisters are doing all they can to put a stop to the problems her mother can cause for the whole of the realm.
After his whole family is wiped out  Giles de Vere  is forced to leave the seminary to claim his family's lands from the Crown.
These are dark times in Britain with a wicked witch so close to the King.  Our heroine and her sisters have a lot of danger to face,  most of it from their mother.  Does our gifted hero have the strength to be her Champion.
Lots of adventure and magical characters.
This is part of a series but each book can be read alone.
I loved it.

The King's Favorite (Daughters of Avalon #1) by Tanya Anne Crosby. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

The eldest of five daughters born to King Henry’s mistress, Elspeth fears she and her sisters will be used as pawns in the wars to come. When her sisters are wrenched from the Blak Montayne Priory that has sheltered them since Henry’s death, Elspeth alone escapes, only to find herself indebted to, of all men, a Scotsman, whose loyalties are in question…

Left to face the wrath of a new sovereign, Malcom MacKinnon must swear fealty to Stephen of Blois in order to keep the demesne he won through the slaying of his own grandsire. But if he does so, he shall pit himself against Scotland, and even his own sire. Yet even as he realizes there is no turning back, his beautiful charge may offer him more than he anticipated. Will giving in to his passion bring nations to war?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Elspeth and her sisters are the illegitimate daughters of dead,  King Henry,  and have been kept in a monastery for years. Now their mother who is once again the mistress of the King,  has found a use for them.  If she can punish them at the same time,  that is a bonus.
Mother and daughters are all "Daughters of Avalon" and have special powers.  The mother is extremely dangerous and evil.  The girls are innocent and are not used to using their growing powers.
The time has come for a showdown.  The throne and many lives are at stake.
Malcom MacKinnon is on special assignment for King Steven.  Many years before Malcom went against the wishes and politics of his family,  mainly so that he could claim his childhood home as his own.
A young woman running from someone is about to turn his life upside down.  Danger,  he is used to facing but there is something strange is happening that will cause him to question everything he has ever believed.
A magical story with fabulous characters,  and lots of excitement.  This is the first in the series and although you can read it on it's own , it will make you want to read the next.  I think you will have to read them in order.  A nice thick book that gives you plenty of time to get stuck in.
