Reduced to genteel poverty following the closure of the family’s Cornish tin mine, Alexandra Gedding and her twin are saved from the wrath of angry, unpaid workers by the timely intervention of a secretive stranger.

David Manston, the disgraced Baron of Carreg, lives as a hermit in a clifftop cottage, his true identity unknown to everyone in the village – just as he prefers. His offer of mediation was to be a one-time act of kindness, but it does not stop Allie trying to pry into his past nor lessen his own attraction to the beautiful gentlewoman.

In the midst of strange happenings at the rundown mine, a figure emerges from Allie’s childhood – her notorious godmother, Lady Abigail, who possesses the means to lay bare David Manston’s darkest secret…

Will the truth bring Allie into his arms, or drive her away for good?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Alexandra Gedding and her twin brother are sadly watching the demise of the village that surrounds their family's tin mine.  The mine stopped producing so had to be closed. With no tin there's no money or jobs.
David Manston gave up his previous living as  Baron of Carreg and lives as more or less a hermit in a cottage in Cornwall using his art to earn money.
The coast of Cornwall can be a dangerous place when Napoleon is plotting an invasion and a traitor is on the loose.
This exciting adventure is full of intrigue and danger. Fabulous characters that will surprise you.  It is part of a series, you could read it on it's own but the series is best read in order.
Very exciting.

Cornwall, 1805

Rescued from a French prison by a mysterious benefactor, smuggler Nathaniel “Nate” Payne returns home to Cornwall a nearly broken man. He hopes to recover at his old haunt, but The Queen’s Head Inn has a new owner.

Susannah Linwood is a young widow with a dark secret fleeing a brutal past. She has made an honest success of the inn and intends to keep it that way, and not fall in with the likes of Nate. Even so, their mutual attraction is hard to deny. But Nate’s former lover, the local magistrate’s wife, schemes to uncover Susannah’s secrets.

To ease his conscience at surviving when so many did not, Nate writes to the family of a fellow English prisoner, not realizing it is a coded message for The King’s Rogues that brings Lieutenant Adam Hardacre to The Queen’s Head. While Hardacre recruits Nate into The King’s Rogues, Susannah learns a figure from her past is threatening blackmail, and worse, over the circumstances of her husband’s death.

Persuaded to return to France to evacuate stranded English agents, Nate realizes there may be a more pressing rescue mission at home with Susannah’s very life at stake.

The King's Rogues

Book 4 - From the Duke with Love
Book 5 - Father's Day (Christmas Novella)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Mrs Susannah Moorcroft is making a new life for herself after the death of her abusive husband.  She and her friend have decided to run an inn on the coast.  What she doesn't know is all the types of business the previous owner was involved with.  Just when she settles into a happy life the past will come back to bite her.
Smuggler Nate Payne has been in a French prison for months,  no knowing which of his contacts caused him to be captured.  When he eventually makes his way home everything has changed.
There is a lot of danger for our characters in this story. England is at war with France and criminals and spies for both sides are everywhere.  Great risks reap great rewards for those brave enough to take them.  A very exciting adventure.
This is part of a series so you will meet characters from the other books,  but each book can be read alone.  I can highly recommend all of them.

The de Wolfe of Wharf Street (Pirates of Britannia Connected World) by Elizabeth Ellen Carter. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

Grab the next exciting addition to the Pirates of Britannia World with this action packed rescue on the high seas in "The de Wolfe of Wharf Street"

1629 A.D. -Gabriel Hardacre is one of three orphan brothers with a talent for acrobatics and performing.

It's how they make their living... mostly. If a few jewels and trinkets make it into their hands from time to time... well, a man has to eat after all. Their haunt is the Wharf Street Tavern at the docks in Barnstaple.

Perspicacity Glenwood, known as Cassie to her friends, is a forthright and determined young woman. She runs a small school that teaches the children of the docks - as well as some of the adults - who want to learn to read and write.

One of her older students is the handsome Gabriel, but a burgeoning romance between them is thwarted when Cassie receives word that an ailing aunt in Ireland needs her care.

The voyage across the Irish Sea is a short one and ought to be without peril, but the evil Dutch pirate Jan Janszoon controls Lundy Island just outside the Bristol Channel, picking off ships for their bounty of goods - and people to sell as slaves in North Africa.

Gabriel learns from a mysterious man, who simply calls himself de Wolfe, that Cassie's ship has been taken. The man's wife is also among the captives and he's putting together 'a wolf pack' to destroy Janszoon's base of operations for good.

The mission will be hazardous, it will be deadly - and it has to be done within the next two weeks before Cassie and the other captives are taken out of reach forever.

Can Gabriel save the woman he's fallen in love with?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Gabriel Hardacre and his two brothers might have different fathers but that doesn't mean they are any less a family.  They took an oath to stay together.  So they travel the country earning a living any way they can.  Mostly it's as acrobats entertaining the crowds or doing odd jobs.
Perspicacity Glenwood (Cassie) is making a new life for herself with the help of her cousin and his wife.  She will be teaching little ones in the almshouse school.
This is a very unusual historical romance.  It has fantastic characters and lots of action.  The danger and excitement comes in unexpected places.  It ties in nicely with two of my favourite series.  The World of De Wolfe and The pirates of Britannia.
Great fun,  I loved it.

Shadow of the Corsairs (Heart of the Corsairs, #3) by Elizabeth Ellen Carter. Historical Romance / Adventure. Release & ARC Review.

The Past Casts a Shadow Over a Second Chance For Love….

Palermo, 1810

Morwena Gambino is struggling to keep her family’s business going against mounting troubles. Her widowed father, once shrewd, is now increasingly forgetful, letting debts mount and disavowing his sons. Morwena runs the shop behind his back, forced to hide her enterprise not only from her father but also her bitter older brother.

In Tunisia, Tewodros “Jonathan” Afua is struggling to stay alive. Once an Ethiopian prince, he is a captive of the corsairs who slaughtered his wife and children. When a US naval bombardment provides an opening for escape, Jonathan falls in with a seemingly deranged English pirate. Aboard Kit Hardacre’s rundown ship with its ragtag crew, Jonathan learns the real reason he was taken by slavers.

Reluctantly joining Hardacre’s crew, he meets Morwena in Palermo. The fiery young Sicilian woman is the opposite of his quiet reserve, but he is attracted to her despite mourning for his late wife. As he and Morwena grow closer, it emerges that they have something in common – secret betrayal by those close to them – and they must count what they’re willing to risk for a future together.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Johnathon Afua is looking for answers about who killed his family and had him enslaved.  His new friends are pirates who seem to be looking for the same people.  His memories are making it very difficult to leave the past behind and take the new life that is waiting for him.  Our hero is a wealthy man in his home country of Ethiopia,  but that is not a place he can face yet.
Morwena  Gambino is working hard to keep her father's business running.  Her brothers have been forbidden to come home but her father is not well.  Our heroine is a clever,  organized woman,  but Sicily in the early 1800s is not an easy place to be a business woman.
This book is part of a series,  you can easily read it alone but if like me you have read the others you will meet some great old friends.  There is a lot of adventure in this nice long book.  Plenty of time to really get into our character's lives.  Family tensions and danger are faced all the time.
A very exciting story.

Heav'n has no Rage like Love to Hatred turn'd,
Nor Hell a Fury like a Mother scorn'd.

Rescued after two years as a concubine in an Ottoman harem, former debutante Laura Cappleman faces a difficult journey back to normal life. As she travels to Palermo aboard Kit Hardacre’s ship, the Calliope, she is deeply traumatized – and pregnant by her kidnapper.

Laura rejects the emotional support of her long-time admirer, Calliope First Officer Elias Nash, and her cousin, Sophia, Kit’s wife. She withdraws into herself and her art. Finally, after giving birth, she decides to return to London, hoping to erase tormented memories.

Emir Selim Omar died on the day of Laura’s rescue, but his wickedness lives on in his third wife, Rabia, in whose household Laura was held. The ruthless widow may yet hold on to the power she wielded as mother to the Emir’s only male heir. However, as opportunists pick his empire apart, her child dies.

When Rabia learns Laura has given birth to a boy, the solution is obvious – the concubine is stolen property and so is the child sired by her late husband. She will take the boy and kill anyone in the way.

As Rabia’s assassins close in, Elias – both embraced and rejected by the damaged woman he loves, uncertain she will ever return, and alone in Palermo with the child he has given his name – must take the battle to the enemy. Otherwise, there may be nothing for Laura to come home to.

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Laura Cappleman has just been rescued fro two years in a harem.  She will find it impossible to return to her life as it was.  Mainly because she has brought something out with her.  Can she forget about what has happened and start again,  if so how?.
Elias Nash loved Laura before her capture, and his feeling haven't changed.  Unfortunately, she has.  Will she ever see him as more than her rescuer and return his feelings?.
There is much more in play than either of them know.  There will be more danger to face.
This is a big book with lots of emotion.  I did feel as if I started halfway through a continuing tale.
Exciting characters all with very important roles to play.
A very good read.
