Ranger James has the terrible task of telling his best friend and brother in arms wife, that her husband has been killed in action. A task made all the harder by their shared history. Ranger is a typical special forces hero, but back in his home town more personal feelings make his life harder to cope with.
Amy Carter is having trouble coping with her feelings after the loss of her husband. The main one being guilt over the argument they had just before he left, and the fact he will never know his daughter. A troublesome mother in-law makes her life particularly miserable.
Task Force Scorpion are trying to track the weapons they know are in the area and bound for a terrorist group. They believe the Mexican drug cartel are involved with the deal, and are investigating.
When the cartel turn up on Amy's farm Ranger knows the danger is too close to a woman he is sworn to protect.
This is the second in this thrilling, all action series. It is better to have read the first book, but possible to enjoy this on it's own. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.
