Duke of Debauchery (Sins and Scoundrels #5) by Scarlett Scott. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

He's notoriously wicked. She's a wallflower guarding her heart.

The Duke of Montrose has perfected the art of being a scoundrel. Mistresses? He's had an endless procession of them. Gin-soaked nights? He's experienced more than he can count. He'll do anything to distract himself from the demons of his past. Until the day his devil-may-care ways leave his best friend gravely injured. Now, he's determined to make amends at any cost. Fortunately, he knows just where to begin.

The Honorable Miss Hattie Lethbridge is quite happy being a wallflower, thank you very much. She would far prefer to spend an evening curled up with her cat than whirling about a ballroom. When her brother's scapegrace friend, the Duke of Montrose, proposes they marry, she is equally determined to refuse his suit.

The more she denies him, the more resolute Monty is that Hattie must be his. Much to her dismay, Hattie finds herself warming to the wickedest duke in London. But Monty is keeping dangerous secrets, and when Hattie discovers what he's been hiding, any hope for a future together may be forever lost.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Monty, Duke of Montrose is known to society as the Duke of Debauchery and he has always lived like that description.  However a recent accident shook him up enough to make a few changes.  The biggest being the wish to marry,  and who better than the wallflower sister of the friend that was also in the accident.  That will help ease his conscience.
Miss Hattie Lethbridge is trying to cope with the changes in her brother.  She has never blamed the Duke for the accident so she will not allow herself to be used to salve his conscience. The man carries big secrets that cause him to behave in a reprehensible manner.
This is a sexy historical romance where our hero has a problem with addiction.  Can our heroine force him to face the demon once she finds out?? It's quite an emotional story at times but mostly very sexy.
This is part of a series that should be read in order, but each book can be read alone.
I loved it.

Can a ruined lady's love save the Earl of Every Sin?

Book 4 in the Best-Selling Sins and Scoundrels series has arrived! Read for Free with Kindle Unlimited!

When Alessandro, the half-Spanish Earl of Rayne, settles upon a marriage of convenience with Lady Catriona Hamilton, the terms are clear: an heir in exchange for her freedom. Still haunted by his painful past, he has no intention of entertaining a true marriage with his new wife or remaining in England.

A ruined lady brought back from her banishment for a second chance, Catriona is practical and determined. There’s no stronger lure than the prospect of her independence. Except for the earl himself, that is.

Saddled with a scapegrace brother-in-law, a mouse-toting ward, a Spanish-speaking butler, and a wife he cannot stop wanting, Alessandro is about to learn life is best when it does not go according to plan. But if he doesn’t let go of the past, he’ll lose everything.

The darkest hearts fall the hardest…

Sins and Scoundrels
Book 1 - Duke of Depravity
Book 2 - Prince of Persuasion
Book 3 - Marquess of Mayhem
Book 4 - Earl of Every Sin
Book 5 - Duke of Debauchery

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Alessandro Forsythe,  the Earl of Rayne is going to marry the sister of a man he shot and wounded in a duel.  That will serve two purposes,  settle a debt of honour and hopefully provide him with the heir he needs.  Once that is done he can return to Spain.
Lady Catriona Hamilton had been exiled to Scotland after getting caught kissing a man,  but now her brother has decided she must marry.
This is an emotional story with lovely characters.  Our hero is a man tormented by his past.  Our soft-hearted heroine is willing to put her heart on the line to have the life she wants.
This is part of a series but easily read on it's own.  I think "Monty" might be the hero of the next book.
Very good fun,  I loved it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A great set of stories. Some spooky some not but all really well worth reading.

Emma,

by Kathryn LeVeque.

☆☆☆☆☆

This might be a shorter story than usual from this author but it's still a wonderful one.
It starts in the present time with characters that just might have met in a previous life.
We go back in time to the traumatic time when our careless hero and unfortunate heroine first met.
I would love this to have been fleshed out to a full length book but I loved it anyway.
****************************

Aislin,

By Meara Platt.

☆☆☆☆☆

William has lived as the pirate Lucifer for the last three years,  with very little memory of what happened before. Now however he has been having dreams of a woman who is obviously special to him.  So it's back to the place he hopes to find her for him.
Aislin is apparently a very dangerous woman to know.  Her father holds a lot of power in the smuggling community,  and if anyone threatens what is his they have a tendency to dissapear forever.
An action packed story with danger from all sides.  Both our characters are strong and possibly a bit too brave. The mystery they have to solve while not knowing who is on which side gives us a lot of excitement and a few giggles.
I loved it.
****************************

Sarah,

By Scarlett Scott.

☆☆☆☆☆

Lady Sarah Bolingbroke is determined to have revenge for herself and her sister from the man who destroyed them both.  A masked ball seems like the perfect opportunity.
Phillip the Earl of Markham gave up on love a few years ago when he was tricked but had a lucky escape.
This is a lovely story that shows us that not everything we are told is true,  and sometimes it's those closest to us that lie the most.  Great characters that are easy to love,  and a mischievous story line.
Good fun.
**********************************

Madeline.

By Mary Lancaster.
☆☆☆☆☆

Miss Madeline Deare has returned to England to be with her brother after the death of her father.  Her brother seems intent on taking her to see as many unattached men as he can,  even though she's told him she not interested in marriage.
Mr Robert Usher has been a soldier for years but has now returned home. It's not a particularly happy place.  The whole family has a reputation for being slightly crazy,  maybe it's true.  Maybe it's someone with evil intentions.
A nice dark romance, with a damaged hero and a heroine with a good and strong heart.
I always enjoy the "spooky" touch in this authors books.
Loved it.
**********************************

Beth,

By Maggi Andersen.
✰✰✰✰✰

Beth Harrismith was hoping to go to her first ball with her sister,  but a family emergency changes everything.  Little do they know there is mischief afoot.
Marcus Neyland has been asked to keep an eye on friend's sister in law.  What starts as a pleasant evening turns into a race for a young girl's safety.
A fast paced adventure with great characters.
**********************************

Hyacinth,

By Chastity Bowlin.
★★★★★

Hyacinth is a companion to Lady Arabella and accompaning her on a visit to her cousin.  A near tragedy will put her in the arms of her host.
Ian Blake Lord of Dumbarton knows his mother and cousin are matchmaking but that does help the way he feels.
Really good fun.

**********************************

Eleanor,

by Sydney Jane Baily.
★★★★★

Miss Eleanor Blackwood is staying with friends on the way to visit her sister.  There are lots of great memories and friends to see.  Including the handsome Grayson O'Connor.
A lovely Gothic romance full of fun and adventure.
Obviously part of a very good series.
**********************************

Raven,

By Violetta Rand.
☆☆☆☆

James the Earl of Darkmoor has been morning the loss of his love for five years.  She vanished one night and he has never been able to put her out of his heart.  Maybe this anniversary will be easier, and he can move on.
A very short spooky story.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Morgan,  the Marquess of Searle escaped from a French prison and made his way home.  He still carries the scars on his body and mind of what happened there.  Now he is determined to get revenge on the man who put him in that hell.
Lady Leonora Forsyth has given up hope of ever finding a husband.  She is twenty-nine and has a limp . Not exactly the type of woman that the men her mothers wants for her, are looking for.  So why is the mysterious and dangerous Marquess suddenly noticing her.
This is a beauty and the beast type story.  Our heroine has so much to offer the right man,  but our hero doesn't deserve her. An emotional tale with terrific characters that have a lot to sort out before they get what they want.
Great fun.

Duncan Kirkwood is the bastard son of a Duke.  His blood father has never acknowledged him. He has managed to make himself very influential amongst the wealthy members of society,  thanks to his club. "The Duke's Bastard"  is where all sorts of pleasures can be had. Soon vengeance for the death of his mother will be within his grasp.
Lady Frederica Isling does not want to marry the man her father has chosen for her, she wants to write a novel.  Stories are always in her head,  but she needs to do some research to make it believable.  Gambling clubs are not the place a young woman can go on her own,  so some deception is needed.
Our heroine is an adventurous young lady who wants a very different life to the one her parents insist on.  Our hero is a strong man who has dragged himself out of the gutter through sheer hard work and intelligence.
This historical romance is a lot of sexy fun.  The characters are very easy to love,  and the story line is very believable.

It is part of a series but each book can be read on it's own.
A very enjoyable read.

Crispen Ashforth,  Duke of Whitley has returned from war,  but not recovered from it.  He suffers a heavy dose of guilt and the nightmares that go with it.  Drowning himself in the bottle doesn't seem to be helping.
Mrs Jacinda Turnbow helps her father with his work of decoding messages for the war office.  Unfortunately she has been ordered to act as a governess to catch a spy.
Our hero is basically a good man,  but he can't cope with returning to a normal life and looking after his two young sisters.
Our heroine is a brave and intelligent woman who needs to save herself and her father from a ruthless man.
Lots of emotion and difficulties are ahead for our characters.  This is an exciting and steamy historical romance that kept me entertained from the first to last page.
I loved it.
