Dragons Honor (The Dragon Corps #1) by Michaela Kendrick. ARC Review.

The Warlord...

From high society banquets in the ice covered skyscrapers of New Arizona, to the most far-flung outposts at the edge of human-occupied space, everyone has heard of Ymir. The Alliance's reach is wide, and its soldiers are well trained, but there are always despots powerful enough to assert themselves, and Ymir has been one of the most notable failures of human history: a whole planet given over to a man known only as the Warlord.

The soldier…

Cade Williams was once a Dragon—the most elite fighting unit in known space. Precise, brutal, and unstoppable, they were a last resort in the lawless wastes of space colonization. But there was a price: in one horrific mission, Cade’s unit took down not only a slave trader, but an entire intergalactic carrier. Cade left and never looked back. Haunted by his past, he’s vowed never again to kill, never again to fight, and, filling jobs from dock worker to bartender, he’s managed to keep that vow. But Cade’s life is about to be turned upside down. Because when at last he runs out of options, his old friend Talon Rift appears out of nowhere. Talon, the man who ordered him to take down the carrier. Talon, who wants him to get back in the game. And when Cade won’t, Talon has a job opportunity he seems to know Cade can’t afford to pass up. Protect a woman. An innocent. Remarkably little chance of anything going wrong. And a man needs to eat.

And the trophy wife…

There are two problems: first, that Cade hates Aryn the moment he lays eyes on her; second, that he wants her like he’s never wanted anyone before in his life. Or make that three problems: Aryn’s fiancé is a weapons trafficker with a well-deserved reputation for being ruthless, and Aryn is about to get caught up in one of his schemes - one that will bring her back to the place she only just escaped...the mines of Ymir.

Cade Williams has abandoned the Dragon Corps because he couldn't live with the work they did. Trying to make a living without using the one thing he was trained to do means he is in desperate straights. His old commanding officer persuades him to take a job as a bodyguard.
Aryn Beranek escaped the mines by marrying a rich man. She didn't realize how he made his money. She needs to stay with home to protect her family. This is a Sci-fi romance set on another planet. Our hero is suffering from guilt or PTSD and our heroine also feels guilty, but for a totally different reason. Add in an evil warlord in charge of a whole planet and an arms dealer determined to seize power  and we have an explosive setting.
A good read for Sci-fi fans.

Raised on the Dragon Riders of Pern, Star Wars, Star Trek, and a whole bunch of historical romances, Michaela grew up adoring the adventure of Science Fiction and the passion of a good love story. Filled with double crossing, grand romantic gestures, sarcasm, and plenty of heat, Michaela's books are just the sort of thing she wants to read herself!

This is the 2nd book in the series, they need to be read in order.

Payton and her sisters are starting to come to terms with the death of their parents. They all put it off for far too long. They are taking control of the company and discovering more than they want to.
Payton has been very busy with the day to day running of the new campus. Now she is going back to the dog show circuit with her beloved Dobermans.
Collin is one of the men recently rescued from a laboratory,  where be was injected with wolf DNA.  He is living on campus while Payton's sister works to find a way to help him control the violent reactions he is having. The only thing that seems to help is being close to Payton, who doesn't like him.
Collin is literally a major pain as far as Payton is concerned.
I love this series and am already addicted. We have non stop action , adventure and danger. The special abilities that crop up are surprising for us and the characters.  Collin is a wonderful wounded and vulnerable hero. Payton is a lot stronger than she thinks. There are some lovely romantic scenes, ( hot and sexy, no bad language ) . I have no idea what Willow's  story will be,  but I can't wait to read it.

The new SBG novel from the author of Exchange of Fire.

When her secretly filmed tryst shows up on the internet, Michelle Alger goes on the run. She has no choice. Not only was her one-night stand the son of a US senator, but he’s been murdered—and she’s the number one suspect. With both the senator and an avenging drug lord on her trail, her life is in danger. There’s only man she can trust. He saved her once, but will he still be her hero six years later? Captain Jeremy Malone and the rest of Delta Squad have the senator’s order: find the mystery woman who killed my son. But to Jeremy, she’s no mystery. Six years ago his team of Green Berets rescued her from the torturous clutches of a Colombian cartel, and he’s never forgotten her. His personal and covert mission: find Michelle before anyone else. When he and Michelle do meet again, the sparks are explosive and consuming. They’re also dangerous as hell. Because with each new bit of evidence, Jeremy suspects that Michelle’s innocence may be a ruse—a beautiful trap set by a woman who has even more secrets yet to bare.

Michelle paced the length of the room for the thousandth time. There were exactly eighteen steps from the bathroom door to the sad excuse of a table. Not the biggest rooms here at the OTE. A long moan drifted through the left wall followed by a slam, then rhythmic banging. “Oh, God. Yes,” a woman cried. “Give it to me, daddy.” Whomp. Whomp. Whomp. The cheap picture over the bed rattled with “daddy’s” frantic pace. Michelle rolled her eyes to the ceiling. “Really?” she asked the stained tiles. As if her situation wasn’t bad enough, she now had to listen to a bad porno. She glanced at the clock. 5:22 p.m. Her fingertips felt cold. She went to rub her hands together only to find her palms had a thin layer of sweat. How messed up was that? Darn nerves. For years she had fantasized about this moment. So many versions ranging from innocent to completely far-fetched had captivated her dreams. Only Fate would deliver the version where she was holed up in a seedy motel with Big Daddy providing the sleazy soundtrack. “Yes! Right there! Harder!” She tuned out the “Oh-Gods,” and the “That’s-the-spots” and replayed her favorite fantasy. The one where Captain Jeremy Malone sought her out only to find out she had been given a new identity and placed in Witness Protection. Devastated by the government’s unwillingness to tell him where she had been relocated, he made it his personal mission to find her. Though it took years, he finally discovered she became a park ranger in Indianapolis. He immediately requested leave from the military and showed up at her apartment door. She laughed at her foolish daydreams. Even if the man had hunted her down, then what? Her track record since Colombia had been Michelle, zero; Disaster, every time. The looks of disgust on her partners’ faces when they saw her body usually killed whatever passion she had been able to muster through the fear and memories. Only one man had seen beyond carnage and made her feel as if it would be okay. A hoarse shout bled through the thin wall followed by a lot of groaning. Hopefully that signaled the end of “daddy’s” session. Had she done the right thing calling Cappy? How long had he been in Indianapolis? God, had she been this close to him all this time? What if he’s seen the news? Would he call the police, FBI, Army to tip them off? She started to panic. Oh no. What had she done? Knock. Knock. Knock. Michelle jumped at the sound on her door. The blood drained from her face and her heart pounded against her ribcage. No way in this short span of time could it be another drunk with the wrong room. Which meant . . . He’s here. All her insecurities rushed through her brain as she stared at the door. Everything from her thunder-thighs to her lack of makeup and hungover status swamped her. “Michelle?” a muffled, deep male voice called on the other side. She’d know that intonation anywhere. It slid over her, tightening the knot in her stomach. She rubbed the dancing area and snagged on a button. Jerking her head down, she started cussing. She still had on the ugliest uniform ever. Not one ounce of sexiness could be wrung from the drab olive and gray clothing. Sweat pooled under her arms, not helping her confidence and— Wait, what was that? She squinted and dabbed a spot on her shirt. Great. She had on the most god-awful stained uniform ever. This was so far from her fantasy she could only hang her head. About par for the last twenty-four hours. Knock. Knock. “Michelle,” Captain Jeremy Malone said again. “It’s safe to open the door.” No one shouted “POLICE” or “FBI.” That was a good sign, wasn’t it? Didn’t they have to identify themselves first before entering? That meant he was alone, right? She threw her shoulders back and strode across the room. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath and opened the thin wood. Holy Cheesus on wheat toast. How could she not recall how HUGE he was? And that was saying something, since she was considered tall. But he had to be at least a half a foot over her head. Not only tall, but ripped with muscles . . . Like no-way-could-this-exist-in-real-life muscles sprouted beneath a tight T-shirt. Since he had worn a helmet the last time they met, she had never gotten to see he had dark brown hair, buzzed in a military crew-cut. His stance was all business; exuding strength and power and don’t-mess-with-me-cause-I-know-eighty-ways-to-kill-you. But one feature commanded her attention—the same one haunting her for years. His eyes. Those wonderfully expressive deep coffee-colored eyes. “Cappy.” She shuddered. After so many years of longing, she was finally staring into their depths . . . and he was staring right back.

SGB #2

This is the 2nd book in the series,  you "could" read it as a stand alone, but to understand the dynamic of the team it's best to read book #1Exchange of Fire (An SBG Novel) first.

Michelle Alger is a survivor.  Six years ago, as an exchange student to an university in Colombia, she was captured and tortured by the drug cartel. Now in witness protection and  suffering from extreme  PTSD , she finds herself in big trouble. There is only one person who may be able to help her.
Jeremy Malone (Cappy ) was the Green Beret who took his team to rescue her. He has his own nightmares from that night. Cappy is now the CO of Delta Squad  for SBG. They have had a change in leadership lately.  The previous boss is in prison and plotting revenge.
The Senator who is now in charge of SBG has just lost his grown up son to a murderer. The number one suspect is a woman seen running from his hotel room. The Senator wants Delta Squad on the case.
This is a very fast paced story that will keep the pages flying past. The bravery of Michelle is staggering. The whole SBG. Delta Squad are incredible characters.  People who have to bury their softer sides must have so much trouble in "normal" life. I will not give you any clues to how this story unfolds because that would spoil it. If you like hair raising excitement in your reading, along with strong men and women being made humble by love this is the book /series for you.
The team member I am most looking forward to having his HEA is Talon.

Jacob, (Kings of Guardian #) by Kris Michaels. My ARC Review.

Victoria Marshal didn´t cooperate by dying in the Afghani hell hole like the CIA expected. Defying all probability, a privately -funded black ops group led by a handsome, sexy as sin southerner pulled her out of the warlord´s prison cell and brought her home.Even half out of her mind with pain Tori knew this man was special. She made a date with the commander to meet one year later at a restaurant of his choice. Keeping that date was the best thing she ever did.
Jacob King found little physically attractive about the woman he saved from the warlord´s camp, though it was hard to see what lay under the filth and suppurating wounds she suffered from countless beatings. He admired her brave humour in the face of her agonizing injuries. This kind of tough minded woman was someone he´d like to know as a friend. He never expected the leggy, blond bombshell in the red dress who showed up for their date.
But then he never expected she would save his life , either. In a world of shadows , smoke ,and dangerous covert missions, where people routinely vanish, and living one more day was never a given. Tori and Jacob fight to build their happy ever after.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC but that does not colour my review in any way.

From the war torn land of the middle east , to a cattle ranch in South Dakota and back again. Tori must face her worst nightmares and her happiest dreams. She is an incredibly brave and strong minded woman , who is a lot happier working in intelligence than at home on the family ranch.  Jacob is everything a true hero should be. Big, strong ,sexy and protective. He comes from a very large family. Who will make some wonderful stories themselves.  Jacobs team are all very like him and make wonderful secondary characters. The sex scenes are scorching , but not at all crude. This is very emotional at times , and makes you think of all the brave people who really do these jobs. I could quite easily get addicted to this series.
