Dragons Vengeance. (Dragon Corps #2) by Michaela Kendrick. Sci-Fi/Romance. ARC Review.

The Dragon…

Talon Rift is one of the best in the business, and his business is tough. As a soldier in the elite Dragon Corps, Talon is efficient, deadly, and nigh unstoppable. As a leader, he's famously protective of the men and women he leads. And for very, very personal reasons, Talon refuses to rest until the Warlord of Ymir is taken down.

The Assassin…

Unfortunately for Talon, the Warlord knows he's being hunted - and he's sent assassins to make sure Talon and his crew are taken out. Unfortunately for the Warlord, however, one of those assassins on Tera - a woman he rescued from the slums of Osiris, a woman of absolute loyalty. ...And a woman, as it happens, who never knew just who her protector was. To protect him in return, Tera will stop at nothing to take Talon down - and having forbidden her to take this mission, the Warlord will stop at nothing to get Tera back before she learns the truth about him.

And an inconvenient, undeniable attraction…

The battle was always going to be close. Talon and Tera are two of the very best, weapons honed in the fires of battle. The problem that no one could have foreseen, however, was the heat between them. As lies and truths converge, and the final showdown grows ever closer, will the two warriors learn from one another how to love? Or will they destroy the one person who might have understood them?

Major Talon Rift is AWOL from the Dragon Corps along with his crew. They are hunting the Warlord of Ymir to make him pay for his many crimes. The warlord is a very rich and powerful man, with  seemingly limitless places to hide.
Tera Soras was a homeless orphan fighting for her life, when she was found and given a way to better herself. Now years later she is her father´s most highly trained assassin.  When she hears someone is trying to kill her adopted father, she decides to kill them first, even though he has forbidden her to.
This all action Sci-fi is an unusual romance. There are a lot of vicious fights and space battles. You can't help but root for our enhanced heroine as she discovers things she doesn't want to believe. Our honourable hero must take the lives of men he once worked with.  This takes a toll on his conscience. Will he also have to kill Tera, or will she kill him first ?
This is the second book of the series and is best read in order. That way you will find out the crimes the warlord committed. I look forward to reading the next book.

Raised on the Dragon Riders of Pern, Star Wars, Star Trek, and a whole bunch of historical romances, Michaela grew up adoring the adventure of Science Fiction and the passion of a good love story. Filled with double crossing, grand romantic gestures, sarcasm, and plenty of heat, Michaela's books are just the sort of thing she wants to read herself!

Dragons Honor (The Dragon Corps #1) by Michaela Kendrick. ARC Review.

The Warlord...

From high society banquets in the ice covered skyscrapers of New Arizona, to the most far-flung outposts at the edge of human-occupied space, everyone has heard of Ymir. The Alliance's reach is wide, and its soldiers are well trained, but there are always despots powerful enough to assert themselves, and Ymir has been one of the most notable failures of human history: a whole planet given over to a man known only as the Warlord.

The soldier…

Cade Williams was once a Dragon—the most elite fighting unit in known space. Precise, brutal, and unstoppable, they were a last resort in the lawless wastes of space colonization. But there was a price: in one horrific mission, Cade’s unit took down not only a slave trader, but an entire intergalactic carrier. Cade left and never looked back. Haunted by his past, he’s vowed never again to kill, never again to fight, and, filling jobs from dock worker to bartender, he’s managed to keep that vow. But Cade’s life is about to be turned upside down. Because when at last he runs out of options, his old friend Talon Rift appears out of nowhere. Talon, the man who ordered him to take down the carrier. Talon, who wants him to get back in the game. And when Cade won’t, Talon has a job opportunity he seems to know Cade can’t afford to pass up. Protect a woman. An innocent. Remarkably little chance of anything going wrong. And a man needs to eat.

And the trophy wife…

There are two problems: first, that Cade hates Aryn the moment he lays eyes on her; second, that he wants her like he’s never wanted anyone before in his life. Or make that three problems: Aryn’s fiancé is a weapons trafficker with a well-deserved reputation for being ruthless, and Aryn is about to get caught up in one of his schemes - one that will bring her back to the place she only just escaped...the mines of Ymir.

Cade Williams has abandoned the Dragon Corps because he couldn't live with the work they did. Trying to make a living without using the one thing he was trained to do means he is in desperate straights. His old commanding officer persuades him to take a job as a bodyguard.
Aryn Beranek escaped the mines by marrying a rich man. She didn't realize how he made his money. She needs to stay with home to protect her family. This is a Sci-fi romance set on another planet. Our hero is suffering from guilt or PTSD and our heroine also feels guilty, but for a totally different reason. Add in an evil warlord in charge of a whole planet and an arms dealer determined to seize power  and we have an explosive setting.
A good read for Sci-fi fans.
