Robert Grant escaped the slaughter at Culloden, but now he is wanted for treason. After ten years he wants to return to Scotland and gain his father's forgiveness.
His main problem will be his half brother, who will not want to lose his position as heir to the Earl.Jessie Monroe's father has taken a post as accountant to the Earl of Strathburn. She has to live with him, so she will be a companion to the Countess, a spoiled and spiteful woman. The son of the house is a predator. Jessie is trying to keep away from him without putting her father's job in jeopardy. The danger for her gets too much.
This is a Highlander tale full of danger and betrayal. No one knows who to trust. Our poor heroine can't seem to turn around without someone hurting her. Our hero just wants to earn forgiveness without losing his head. Our villain is devious , maybe a little mad and definitely very dangerous.
This story pulled me in on the first page and kept me enthralled all the way through. I loved it.
Amy Rose Bennett has always wanted to be a writer for as long as she can remember. An avid reader with a particular love for historical romance, it seemed only natural to write stories in her favourite genre. She has a passion for creating emotion-packed—and sometimes a little racy—stories set in the Georgian and Regency periods. Of course, her strong-willed heroines and rakish heroes always find their happily ever after.
