Lady Theodora Worth only had her grandfather as family and he had a terrible last few years.
The staff helped her hide his health problems from the world. Now he's gone and she should inherit the Scottish title of Countess and the lands that go with it. Unfortunately a distant cousin who inherits the English title and the rest of the lands is not satisfied with his share. She needs to call on an elderly neighbour for help.
Lord William Cavensham suffered heartbreak when he was young and has burried himself in his work for his large and loving family ever since. When his darling aunt Stella calls for him urgently, he doesn't hesitate.
This is a very emotional story and you will need a box of tissues. Our strong, intelligent but naive heroine needs to brave the big bad city of London and the rumours that are circulating about her. Our hero is kind and helpful but is not going to make the sacrifice his aunt wants.
There are lots of fabulous characters in this story, some of which you might have met in previous books in the series. Each book can be read on it's own .
I loved it and others the I've read.

Lady Daphne Hallworth is twenty-five years old and has resigned herself to being a spinster. She has had offers but wanted none of them. Because she is wealthy in her own right and has a loving family there is no need for a husband. What Lady Daphne wants most is to open a home for unwed mothers, to protect them from what happened to her sister.
Lord Paul Barstowe has recently become a Duke after the deaths of his brother then his father. He loved his brother and wants to build a hospital in his name for people suffering from the same ailments. Unfortunately he spent most of his life aggravating his father and proving he was the bad son. Now he has to earn back his respectability. Notes from his father delivered deliberately after his death do nothing to help his self-worth.
An emotional and saucy historical romance with very lovable characters. Our heroine has lost something very precious to her, but potentially dangerous to her family and will risk anything to get it back. Our hero is much too hard on himself for things that where beyond his control.
You will laugh and cry while reading this.
It is part of a series but easily read on it's own. It will however tempt you to read the previous books in the series. I hope there are at least two more coming. (Maybe set in Northumberland)
I loved it.

Michael Cavensham, the Marquess of McCalpin has a terrible secret that he has kept hidden from everyone except his brother. That secret makes him feel vulnerable and at times unworthy of his birthright.
Theft is theft, even if it's a small amount, but if the money should be yours anyway does that count???
This is an emotional romance with both our characters dealing with uncomfortable issues. When someone sets out to profit from the troubles our poor heroine faces, it could destroy a whole family. Our hero needs to dace up to his difficulties before they ruin everything.
A fascinating story that will have you crying and laughing.
I loved it.

Nicholas St. Mauer, the Earl of Somerton has worked very hard to make his own fortune. The ton might look down on him for going into trade, but it means everything to him to succeed.
Lady Emma Cavensham is desperately sad over the death of her best friend. She blames herself for not protecting her. She is determined never to marry and lose control over her life.
Both our hero and heroine have very strong ideas on what they expect from themselves and their lives. Unfortunately for our heroine women of her time don't always get a choice.
This is quite an emotional story where you will be totally drawn in to the characters lives. I expect there will be other stories to follow because the secondary characters we met are well worth hearing more from.
A thoroughly entertaining read.

This is a wonderful story full of emotion and unexpected twists. Our author certainly knows how to keep our attention throughout. Lovely strong characters and a fascinating tale. This is the start of a series that I will definitely be reading more of.
