by Sophie Barnes
  Publication Date: June 25, 2019
  Genres: Adult, Historical, Romance

All she wanted was a kiss… What she got, was fiery passion… Emily Howard knows she is destined to be a spinster. She has accepted this fate, but that doesn’t stop her from wanting to experience kissing. What she doesn’t expect, is for Griffin Crawford, the handsomest man in the world, to do the honors. Or for all her female relations to discover her in his embrace. Naturally, marriage is instantly mentioned, but since Emily knows this is not what Griffin wants, she tries to escape him, her family and the ensuing scandal. When Emily flees the Camberly ball in the wake of their kiss, Griffin goes in pursuit. He will not allow his sister-in-law’s determined friend to risk her safety for any reason. And risk it she will if she means to return to her countryside home by herself. But the longer he remains in her company, the more he is tempted to kiss her again. If only he could risk falling in love and remain in England forever.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Miss Emily Howard has been persuaded back into society by her friends and family,  but knows at twenty-six she is past marrying age.  She has never even been kissed. Unfortunately it doesn't take long before she is running back to the house in the country.
Lord Griffin Crawford has come home from Vienna to see his family.  He must return there for his clock making business.  His gentleman's conscience demands certain actions be taken first, if he can persuade the lady.
Our heroine has been quite satisfied with the changes she made to her life,  and sees absolutely no reason to change it.
A sweet historical romance with lovely characters.  Family plays a big part in thier lives.  Anticipation makes it very romantic.
Good fun.

When Love Leads to Scandal

The Townsbridges Series
by Sophie Barnes
  Publication Date: February 19, 2019
  Genres: Adult, Historical, Romance

Two people fated to be together… Recently engaged to the Earl of Langdon, Lady Bethany is content with the knowledge that she’s made a wonderful match for herself. Until a chance encounter with a handsome stranger makes her wish she was still unattached – a sentiment that grows even stronger when circumstance causes her to spend more time in this gentleman’s company. And the duty that threatens to come between them… Charles Townsbridge is not prepared to learn that the mystery woman he met in the park, the very same woman he cannot get out of his head, is in fact his best friend’s fiancée. Determined to do the right thing, he tasks himself with quashing the attraction, only to discover that the heart cannot be so easily controlled.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Mr Charles Townsbridge always thought the romantic notion of love at first sight was just something his younger sisters believed in.  Now he knows better,  but that will not matter now.
Lady Bethany Andrews accepted the proposal of a very eligible man on the journey across the Atlantic.  That has saved all the hassel of what her first season in London might have been.  Maybe she was too hasty.
A short but fun historical romance with delightful characters.  Just wish it had been a bit longer.

A Most Unlikely Duke (Diamonds In The Rough) by Sophie Barnes. Historical Romance, ARC review & Giveaway

He never thought he’d become a duke,
or that the secrets of his past will cost him his greatest love...

A MOST UNLIKELY DUKE
Diamonds in the Rough #1
Sophie Barnes
Releasing June 27, 2017
Avon Books

Raphe Matthews hasn’t stepped foot in polite circles since a tragedy left his once-noble family impoverished and in debt. The bare-knuckle boxer has spent the last fifteen years eking out an existence for himself and his two sisters. But when a stunning reversal of fortunes lands Raphe the title of Duke of Huntley, he’s determined to make a go of becoming a proper lord, but he’ll need a little help and his captivating neighbor might be just the woman for the job…

After her sister’s scandalous match, Lady Gabriella knows the ton’s eyes are on her. Agreeing to tutor the brutish new duke can only lead to ruin. Although she tries to control her irresistible attraction to Raphe, every day she spends with him only deepens her realization that this may be the one man she cannot do without. And as scandal threatens to envelope them both, she must decide if she can risk everything for love with a most unlikely duke.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Dock worker and bare knuckle fighter Raphe Matthews suddenly finds himself the Duke of Huntley.  He and his sisters have lived in the slums of St. Giles in London since their father's suicide.  The huge change in circumstances doesn't come without problems.  The snobs of the "ton" will never accept them if they find out where they grew up.
Lady Gabriella Radcliffe has to be extra careful in her behavior since the scandal her older sister caused.  Her parents have chosen a very suitable man for her to marry.  The fact that they have absolutely nothing in common , and he only wants her money doesn't seem to matter.  The new neighbours will cause a distraction.
This is lots if fun.  Our hero has carried a lot of responsibility on his very broad shoulders and trying to do his best for everyone.  Our heroine has been trying to fit into a role that is just not right for her.  Will she do as she's told or what she wants???
This is part of a series, but is easily read as a stand alone.  It does give us a little teaser at the end for the next book.  I will definitely want to read that as well.
