Gladiator meets Fight Club in the Scottish Highlands in this gripping series from USA Today bestselling author Kathryn Le Veque

As the bastard son of a duke, Magnus Stewart's royal blood has been a curse. Lured by the mystique and riches of the legendary fight club, Ludus Caledonia, Magnus uses his anger and bitterness to battle his way to the status of a prized gladiator known as The Eagle.

Diantha de Mora has heard of The Eagle, and in desperation, she seeks his help to escape the men pursuing her. Magnus comes to her aid, and in one night, his fate is changed forever. Mutual attraction is instant, but with enemies at every turn, it'll take muscle and a miracle for them to make it to the Highlands alive. There, Magnus can reclaim his destiny, as Diantha guides his heart home.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Magnus Stewart is the bastard son of a Duke and has suffered for it most of his life.  That was until he was taken in and trained by the best fight Guild in Scotland. Now he is the best warrior they have.  He glories in the adulation of the crowds,  and has put the past far behind him.
Diantha de Mora has been an unwilling ward of the Duke since she was a child.  Now she is betrothed to the heir ,but there is no way she can allow any marriage to happen.
This is a great historical romance / adventure where both our lead characters have been deceived by the same powerful man.  The humour and the fights are a huge part of this story.  Our hero's ego is massive, with good reason.  Our gentle heroine just wants to find a way home.
This is part of a fantastic series.  Each book could be read on it's own, but the series is best read in order.  I have read and loved all of them . There is so much depth to all of the characters.  This time we even get a little insight into Clegg, the man behind the games.
I can easily see this growing into a much bigger series.
I loved every page.

Gladiator meets Fight Club in the Scottish Highlands in a new series from USA Today bestselling author Kathryn Le Veque

Ashamed of a choice that cost good men their lives during battle, Bane Morgan escapes to Edinburgh to forget his past. But the more time he spends away from his Highland home, the more he's filled with regret and despair.

Lucia Symington knows something about despair. Forced to work off a family debt for a clan with little moral compass and a particular hatred for her, Lucia loses herself a little more each day. When a chance meeting with Bane gives them both a glimpse of what their future together could be, Bane turns to the Ludus Caledonia to find the warrior still within him. The Highland Defender has returned...but his quest to free his lady could cost him everything...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Once known as the Highland Defender,  Bane Morgan has fallen into a deep depression.  He has been living on the filthy streets of Edinburgh and drinking far too much.  His shame changed his life, can the scream in the alley change it again??
Lucia Symington is paying off a debt by being in service.  Unfortunately for her the "Lady" she serves has some very naughty habits and a dragon of a nurse who abuses everyone.
Our hero can't deny his nature. He must defend the weak., even if he has to trade himself for years to do it.  Our heroine is a brave and caring woman who tries to make the best of a bad situation. She has dreams of a much better life.  Saving one down and out man to improve his life is just the start of that.
An action packed story from the Highland version of Fight Club.  The warriors we meet are the best of the best.  That's why the Lady wants them.  In truth who can blame her.  However honour is a big part of the code these men live by, so she's not always going to get her way.
All the characters in this story are fabulous and I'm glad to say we will meet them again in the rest of the series.
A great story. I loved it.

Truth. Justice. Revenge. Behind these stands The Scotsman's Sword

Gladiator meets Fight Club in the Scottish Highlands in a new romance from USA Today bestselling author Kathryn Le Veque...

When Lor Careston's quiet Highland village was attacked and burned, he felt helpless against the raiders who destroyed his home. Seeking revenge, but lacking the fighting skills he needs to execute his mission, he sets out to find the Ludus Caledonia―a mysterious fight guild that turns men into warriors.

Lor trains hard, proves himself in the ring, and earns a place with the very clan that decimated his home, having decided to set his plan for revenge in motion from inside the clan. But his plan didn't include Isabail Keith, a fiery lass who prefers broadswords to embroidery and isn't afraid to stand with the warriors of her clan. Lor thought the Keiths were his enemies, but when Isabail is threatened, he'll have to decide what he's willing to risk for the woman who has captured his heart and the clan that has become his home.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lor Careston is a peaceful smithy who has trained alongside his beloved grandfather.  They live in a small Highland village close to a troublesome rival clan.  Our hero met some of that clan when he was still more boy than man and that meeting put a stamp on his heart.  When tragedy strikes he knows he has to make a big change to his life.
Isabail Keith is the firey daughter of the clan leader.  She and her brothers ran wild as children,  causing problems for others.  Our heroine has always been clever when it comes to the tactics needed in a fight but that is not enough to help her clan when war threatens.
This is a grand highland adventure and romance.  The characters are all strong , brave and so interesting.
This book grabs the imagination on the first page and keeps you wanting more. I can already see that this new training school for warriors is going to be the source of many more fabulous books and I'm looking forward to reading them all.
I loved every page.
