Fighting fire with fire

Nick Mancino always gets what he wants -- until now. Despite his seductive persistence, brainy, beautiful scientist Kay Hudson continues to elude him. However, Nick was a Navy Seal, and an FBI Special Agent, so giving up isn't an option.

Ever since that incendiary kiss they shared when Nick saved her beloved grandfather's life, Kay’s been having red hot fever dreams about Nick, but she’s got no business being tempted by anything. She’s on the verge of risking her reputation, her career, her very life, to blow the lid off a deadly bioweapons conspiracy, and Nick’s smoldering eyes, rock-hard body and hot, searching lips should be the very last thing on her mind.

However, with so much to lose, she deserves one blazing night of pleasure with Nick before she disappears forever.

But Nick won't let her face her demons alone . . . and they will have to face down an enemy that could consume them...and the entire world.

Dr Kay Hudson is a scientist working for the CDC,  but she is about to blow her career forever.  Someone at the laboratory is creating biological weapons.  She needs to blow the whistle.
Nick Mancino is a born warrior.  Years with the SEALs and the FBI,  and now working with the team at Alpha Security International.
At last he has managed to catch up with the woman who has been avoiding him.
Our heroine is making the most of what could be her last night.  People have already died for what she carries.
Our hero has his most important task to date,  protect this woman while she discovers just what has been made.
We hardly get time to breathe between all the action in this story.  Very sexy when they are not running for their lives.  What will win brains or brawn?  You will meet some old friends from the previous books in the series,  but you could read it on it's own.
Very exciting read.

Midnight Quest. (Men Of Midnight #4.5) by Lisa Marie Rice. ARC Review.

He comes from nowhere.

Jacko is not afraid of anything or anyone. He has faced down the stuff of nightmares as a Navy SEAL.
Now he is facing an enemy that terrifies him—his past.

Lauren is the love of his life. But how can he be the man she deserves if his past is shrouded in mystery?

Lauren loves Jacko just as he is. She doesn’t know where his quest will take him-- she can only hope it will lead him back to her.

But Jacko's relentless search for the truth of his past will unleash a deadly enemy hellbent on destroying everything he loves most...

Morton (Jacko) Jackman was the neglected , illegitimate son of a junky hooker . Now he is a strong ex navy SEAL with a great job and a girl he loves more than life. So why is he terrified and panicking.?
Lauren grew up in witness protection,  always looking over her shoulder hoping the person next to her was not out to kill her. Now she has a man she knows can keep her safe and good friends. Her life is perfect,  except her man has disappeared.  She has faith he will come back when he has sorted his head out, but will he?.
This is part of a series that is best read in order.  Our hero needs to know himself before he can settle. What does he carry in his DNA.? Our heroine must put on a brave face and keep in mind how much Jacko loves her.
A lovely journey of self discovery.  Our secondary characters play an important role . It is vital to have friends you can count on in times of need.
I love this series.

Midnight Fire, (Men Of Midnight #4) by Lisa Marie Rice. Romantic Suspense. Review.

Jack Delvaux is alive
Summer Redding thought the blindingly handsome jock who'd loved and left her years ago had died in the Washington Massacre. She grieved for her lost golden boy as the rest of the country mourned their dead—until she comes home to find a very alive Jack Delvaux waiting for her with a devastating secret that turns her life upside down.
No longer the carefree man he was in his youth, this Jack is dark, hard and dangerous; a fifteen-year veteran of the CIA hungry for answers…and hungry for her. The rich, good-looking charmer who broke her heart once before would have been easy to resist, but this man, this powerful man? Summer needs him, and he knows it.
When Jack's mission uncovers evidence of government involvement in the Massacre—and plans for another attack—he's primed for revenge. But he has more than vengeance to live for now, and when Summer's life is threatened, it's nearly Jack's undoing. Someone taking shots at his woman? That's a dead man walking.
Summer Reading writes a very well respected political blog. She is attending the funeral of a man who she suspects was involved with a massacre where over seven hundred people died. Including a very good man who was about to declare his run for president, and most of his family.  Summer knew the family well. The son broke her heart years ago. He has been dead for six months so why is she sure he is the homeless guy she has seen in the crowd?
Jack Delvaux has been in an undercover unit with the CIA for many years, but he suspects someone high up in the agency is working against the country.  They are the ones who killed his family and so many others. There are very few people he can trust to help him find the culprits.
A very good all action romantic suspense, with danger on every page. Our heroine will have many traumatic shocks to come. Her life has been one long struggle from a neglected child to a respected journalist. Now she is in the firing line of very deadly people. Our hero has changed from the golden boy  who had the world at his feet, to a hardened agent who knows evil when it crosses his path.
This is part of a series. I think it would be better to read them in order. I unfortunately missed the previous book, but I still enjoyed this one and will be reading the next soon.
