A Trace of Roses (The Daring Dersinghams #3) by Lynne Connolly. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

While their bodies say yes, yes, yes, their minds are saying no.

Lady Dorcas Dersingham is developing the rare and lovely yellow rose. Grant, the Duke of Blackridge, develops coal mines. Beauty meets Beast.

Oblivious to the beauty of nature, Grant is the last person Dorcas should care for. He's a giant of a man and speaks his mind with blunt force. But she can't stop wanting him. When Grant damages her precious yellow rose, she spurns his courtship.

Once he sees the spitfire lurking behind her shy exterior, Grant wants Dorcas more than ever. But somebody doesn't want them together. Somebody wants them dead.

Grant follows Dorcas to the country and watches over her from a distance, disguised as the manager of his new coal mine. But Dorcas soon unearths his secret. Once she reveals the passionate woman she really is, he wants her more than ever.

Dorcas can no longer deny that she loves her Beast. But as they are coming to a new understanding, a disaster forces her to take life-changing decisions.

If they don't trap the person trying to kill them, they won't get their happy ever after.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lady Dorcas Dersingham is anxiously waiting for a delivery of plants from China.  She's hoping that they will help with her very exciting experiments.  With her sisters no longer at home she's never been more happy for her horticulture pursuits.
Grant,  the Duke of Blackridge has at last restored the family finances with lots of hard work.  Hus mother is now pressuring him to marry a childhood friend.  Unfortunately that's not the woman he wants.
There is danger around but what do the villains want to accomplish?  Is it putting an end to Dorcas' work or kill Grant.
You won't find out until almost the end of the book.  It's a great historical romance with mystery,  danger and fun.  The unusual characters and their eccentric families will keep you entertained from the first to last page.
Great fun.

I was born in Leicester, England, and lived in our cobbler’s shop with my parents and sister. It was an old house and most definitely haunted, but I didn’t find out until I left that my great uncle had hung himself in the living room! But I think our ghost might have been older than that. It was built on the site of the old Roman cemetery, and the land had been constantly inhabited, being in the center of town. Then, when the council bought the house from us to build a road, my grandfather retired and my father went and worked for the Post Office. My mother was a sample machinist; that is, she worked with designers on the prototypes (models or samples) of garments. So I was very well dressed! We bought a relatively modern house in the country, and my mother was blissfully happy. It’s all very well living in a large old house, but it’s a dreadful task to keep it clean and warm!

My mother's side of the family are Romany gypsies, although sadly we haven't any of the old trailers that are so astonishingly beautiful. I was taught to read the Tarot cards, and I usually use two packs; the Rider pack for simple readings and the Crowley Thoth pack for the complex stuff.
I've always had an interest in the paranormal and it's been a delight to be able to put some of this into my novels.

A Hint of Starlight (The Daring Dersinghams #2) by Lynne Connolly. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

In the feverish race to discover the transit of Venus, two people find each other instead.

In a starlit garden, Lady Damaris Dersingham meets a man who makes her heart beat faster. But the next day, she is witness to the greatest humiliation of her life, when she is rejected from the Royal Society. That was all Damaris had ever wanted.

The second Dersingham triplet, Damaris is passionate about astronomy. But that’s not good enough for the Royal Society, who rejects her—because she’s a woman. And the man from that starlit garden is none other than Logan, the Duke of Glenbreck, a member of the committee that rejected her.

Discovering the transit of Venus seems ironic to Logan, the Duke of Glenbreck, once he discovers his greatest rival is the most fascinating woman he’s ever met. Damaris deserves better, and Logan will ensure she gets it. The desire he feels for her has nothing to do with it. Truly it doesn’t. When her work is stolen, suspicions arise between them. Did Logan show her work to somebody else? Can she really be in love with him?

Although he has fought his desire for the lovely Damaris, Logan can’t deny it any longer. And when the thief confronts Logan with a stark choice—his work or Damaris’ life—he has to trust his heart rather than his head.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lady Damaris Dersingham is one of triplets who thanks to the brother's recent inheritance have moved into the highest society in the land.  None of them are feeling very comfortable there.  Damaris is something of a bluestocking.  She loves nothing more than watching and tracking the stars.  She has written articles about it under a pen name.  That is going to cause more than a little gossip.
Logan the Duke of Glenbreck is in London bowing to pressure from his mother that it's time he got married.  Unfortunately the woman she's picked out, although beautiful doesn't stir him like the tempestuous beauty that causes outrage at a meeting.
This is great fun.  The age old battle of women trying to prove they are just as intelligent as men.  The gossips will try their best to destroy anyone who upsets the normal way of things.
All the characters are strong and full of life.  The main family of the series have backbones of steel and need it.
I loved it and can't wait to read the rest.

A Touch of Silver (The Daring Dersinghams #1) by Lynne Connolly. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

When two worlds collide, an earl and a city merchant have to fight society and the might of the City of London to earn their happily ever after.

Book 1 in "The Daring Dershinghams" is now available! Read for Free in Kindle Unlimited!

Gerald Dersingham, the new Earl of Carbrooke, is captivated by the woman who storms into his house demanding an explanation for a letter he had no idea he sent.

Gerald never wanted to be an earl. He was happier living in seclusion with his sisters. About to become betrothed to the icy daughter of a duke, he meets the vibrant, alluring Annie, who captivates his heart. But if he gives in to his desires, he risks a happy ending for his sisters, and they deserve their chances.

Annie Cathcart is a widow from the City of London. Finally, she has the chance to achieve her dream of creating silverware for the table. But she needs Gerald's old Shoreditch home to do it. Expecting a stuffy, pompous aristocrat, she meets a man who sees right through her practical exterior to the passionate woman beneath. She wants him more than the house, her respectability, and her independence.

Annie and Gerald are faced with stark choices when her landlord tries to blackmail her into marriage.

Either they give in to the pressures forcing them into unhappy respectability apart... or they boldly defy convention in the name of love.

The Daring Dersinghams
Book 1 - A Touch of Silver
Book 2 - A Hint of Starlight
Book 3 - A Trace of Roses

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Mrs Annie Cathcart inherited a silversmith business from her husband and is determined to protect and grow it for her young sons.  The city of London and it's business guilds can be a difficult place to survive in  but it can also be very helpful.
Gerald Dersingham is unexpectedly the new Earl of Carbrooke.  He has triplet sisters who should have found husbands by now if he had done his duty.  This new title and the wealth that goes with it will force them all to change.
Our heroine is a very capable and protective woman who puts her family above everything.
Our hero has a guilty secret that affects the whole family.  It's time to push past it.
A lovely historical romance with unusual characters that I have fallen in love with. As this is the first in the series I know we will be meeting them all again.  I look forward to reading the rest.
