How to Steal a Thief's Heart (Happy Ever Regency #4) by Bree Wolf. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

What happens when a knight of the road meets a wallflower on a mission?

An unusual wallflower. A knight of the road. And a moment that changed all they thought they knew.

Devoted to the children at her orphanage, Miss Caroline Hawkins hides her beauty behind thick spectacles and drab clothing in order to remain unwed...and free to do as she pleases. While her parents would love nothing more than to see her well married, Caroline is determined to live life on her own terms, refining her disguise to perfection in order to scare off suitors. For years, she's lived in the shadows of society, unnoticed by the crème de la crème of the ton...

...until Lord Markham, a.k.a. the Black Baron, takes a closer look and realizes that there is more to mousy Miss Hawkins than meets the eye.

Pierce Byrne, Baron Markham, detests English society for their selfish disdain and complete disregard for others, and thus, to even the odds, to give back at least a little, Pierce dons a black mask at night and sets out to rob his fellow peers in order to do what is right...

...until one night when he comes upon yet another carriage and finds a highly unusual woman inside. A woman with a secret of her own. A woman he's met before.

Determined to uncover her secret, Pierce follows her, and before he knows it, all he thought he knew is called into question, as a mousy wallflower upends his world...and steals his heart.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Miss Caroline Hawkins hides herself from everyone with a little change to her appearance. She has things she wants to achieve, and she can only do them if she stays unmarried and unnoticed. Luckily for her, her beautiful cousin is the focus of her parent's marriage ambitions.
Pierce Byrne,  Baron Markham has more than a few secrets of his own.  He hates the behavior of some of society,  especially the men who do despicable things just because they can get away with them.  So he makes as many as possible pay for it.
This is definitely a fun read.  Both our hero and heroine are determined to help those who can't help themselves and that causes them to get into difficult situations.
There are giggles, tears,  danger and highly emotional moments.  So much to enjoy and keep the pages flying past.
This story is set in the same timeline as the previous book in the series which is the beautiful cousin's story.  It made me smile to think I knew something this heroine didn't about the other girl's secrets.  But if you are going to read the series ( highly recommended)  you should read them in order or this one could spoil the ending of the other.
I loved every page.

How to Climb a Lady's Tower (Happy Ever Regency #3) by Bree Wolf. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

An untamed lady...A stranger in the night...And a match made in heaven.

Nothing but a pawn in her uncle’s game for title and station, Miss Rebecca Hawkins is forced to spend her days in the company of the most boring lord to ever cross her path, dreading the day he will finally work up the courage to ask for her hand. Her dreams of adventure are crushed by the duty laid upon her shoulders. Still, her heart dares hope, longing for a man unlike the one her uncle chose for her. A man yearning for adventure as much as she does.

An American at heart, Zachary Caswell travels to England upon inheriting his uncle’s title, determined to put the family estate back on its feet before returning home. However, when a family heirloom is stolen, Zach is forced to mingle with a society he holds in contempt. Vain and simpering misses crowd London’s ballrooms as he seeks to uncover who took his father’s ring…until the night his path crosses that of a woman unlike any he’s ever met.

Dauntless, she offers him her help in exchange for his.

In fact, the lady has a list of unusual requests she sets before him, and although Zach knows he would be wise to refuse her, he finds that he soon longs for the adventurous glow in her eyes. As they work hand in hand, both come to realize that they might be more to the other than merely a helping hand.

However, will they dare admit how they feel?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Zachary Caswell came to England from Boston to claim his uncle's title.  He is not at all impressed with the rules and behavior of the titlted classes and is prepared to return home.  That is until he gets a letter from his brother.  Now he must stay to solve the problem.
Miss Rebecca Hawkins is living in her uncle's house,  but he is determined to marry her off to the most tedious man in London.  She is a spirited young lady who is having to bury her true self to please others and it's getting more difficult by the day.
This is a really fun historical romance.  Our characters have wonderful personalities.  They are mischievous and brave with strong feelings for how they want to live.
This is part of a series where each book can be read on it's own,  but the series is best read in order because you will meet the other characters.
Great fun.

How to Tame a Beastly Lord (Happy Ever Regency #2) by Bree Wolf. Historical Romance ARC Review.

Add To

A fallen lady...A beastly lord...And a night out in the woods.

Unmarried and with child, Lady Eugenie enters into a marriage of convenience to save herself and her unborn child from society's censure. However, her new husband turns out to be the rumored Beast of Ravengrove, a hideously scarred man who roams his ancestral home at night, sending fear into the hearts of those unfortunate enough to encounter him.

Battle-scarred and weary of life, Adrian Brooks, Earl of Remsemere, all but flees society and hides out at his country estate. Fearful of an old curse, which has already sent those he loved to an early grave, he spends his days in seclusion. However, one day, an old friend arrives at Ravengrove and begs him for a favor, a favor Adrian is honor-bound to grant.

Will the Beast of Ravengrove send his new bride fleeing into the woods? Or will Lady Eugenie discover that there is a man underneath his beastly demeanor? Is Adrian forever doomed to merely exist, or will he learn to truly live and love again?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

After a family tragedy Adrian Brooks,  Earl of Remsemere tempted death many times in the war in France.  While convinced that death follows him, it doesn't seen to want to take him.  The last example sends him back home and the desolate life there.
Lady Eugenie discovers herself in a very difficult situation through no fault of her own.  She is pregnant and unmarried.  There is really only one hope that will protect her and her baby.
Our unfortunate heroine is a lot more accepting and forgiving than the men around her have any right to expect.
Our tormented hero suffers dreadfully from anxiety.  That is not something that men could admit to in those days.
Two very lonely people must try to make a life worth living.
A very emotional story that links to a previous book in the series.  I don't think it really matters which one you read first because they are set at the same time and don't give too many spoilers to each other until the very end of this one.
The characters are fabulous and fun. I think our heroine's friend just might have her own story coming soon.

Book 1 - How To Wake A Sleeping Lady
Book 2 - How To Tame A Beastly Lord
Book 3 - How To Climb A Lady's Tower

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Miss Agnes Bottombrook can't believe that such a handsome young man would even look at her.  She has nothing to attract such a man.  She's older than him with no dowry and too opinionated.
Grant Barrett,  the Earl of Wentford knew who he wanted for his wife as soon as he set eyes on her.
Their world will get turned upside down several times.  Many people will be affected by the actions of another,  and suffer years of unhappiness.  Can they ever get that loving family life they want or is it lost forever??
I must admit although I guessed the villian I didn't expect the way it would play out.
A very unusual, entertaining and sweet historical romance with fabulous characters.
