Rules for Heiresses by Amalie Howard. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

Amalie Howard whisks you away with a historical romance full of drama, true love, and the perfect happily ever after.

Sometimes, finding love means flouting the rules...

Born to a life of privilege, Lady Ravenna Huntley rues the day that she must marry. She's refused dozens of suitors and cried off multiple betrothals, but running away—even if brash and foolhardy—is the only option left to secure her independence.

Lord Courtland Chase, grandson of the Duke of Ashton, was driven from England at the behest of his cruel stepmother. Scorned and shunned, he swore never to return to the land of his birth. But when a twist of bad luck throws a rebellious heiress into his arms, at the very moment he finds out he's the new Duke, marriage is the only alternative to massive scandal.

Both are quick to deny it, but a wedding might be the only way out for both of them. And the attraction that burns between them makes Ravenna and Courtland wonder if it'll truly only be a marriage of convenience after all...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lady Ravenna Huntley has escaped from an unwanted betrothal by telling her family she's going to visit a friend. She actually hopped on a ship to the Carribean dressed as a man. That's where we meet her in a gambling den.
Lord Courtland Chase was banished from home as a boy, but has flourished and become a very wealthy man in his own right.  One trouble filled night will see him having to return and claim his birthright.
This is an action packed historical romance filled with fun characters.  Our overly independent heroine never wants to conform to the normal rules for young ladies.  Our troubled hero can't seem to let go of the hurt caused by his stepmother and half brother.
There is heartbreak, giggles and danger.  Everything you could want in a story.
I loved it.

The Rakehell of Roth (Everleigh Sisters #2) by Amalie Howard. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

In this game of seduction, the rules don't apply...

As owner of the most scandalous club in London, the last thing the notorious Marquess of Roth wants is a wife. Keeping up his false reputation as a rake brings in the clients with the deepest pockets—money he needs to fund a noble cause. Even though everything inside tells him not to leave his beautiful, innocent wife behind at his country estate...he must.

But three years later, tired of her scoundrel of a husband headlining the gossip rags, Lady Isobel Vance decides enough is enough. She is no longer a fragile kitten, but as the anonymous author of a women’s sexual advice column, she’s now a roaring tigress...and she can use her claws.

Isobel decides to go to him in London, channeling her powers of seduction to make him beg to take her back. But she didn’t expect her marauding marquess to be equally hard to resist. Now the game is on to see who will give in to the other first, with both sides determined like hell to win.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Winter Vance,  the Marquess of Roth doesn't want a wife,  but his father is being his usual stubborn self. Just because he has to take a wife doesn't mean he has to live with her.
Lady Isabel Roth is fed up with being ignored so it's time to take control of what she wants.  London and a grand adventure await.
There is much more to both our lead characters than anyone could guess. Secrets and denials are the rule,  and sexual tension is running high.  There are also plenty of giggles between all the females.
I loved it.

Sweet Home Highlander (Tartans and Titans #1) by Amalie Howard & Angie Morgan. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

Lady Aisla Montgomery has a perfectly tolerable marriage...as long as her husband stays in Scotland and she in Paris. But now, years later, she wants only one thing—a divorce.

Niall Stuart Maclaren, the rugged Laird of Tarbendale rues the day he met his beautiful, conniving wife. Though the thought of her incites a bitter and biting fury, no other woman has ever stirred his blood as hotly. When Aisla returns to Scotland to sever ties, Niall agrees on one condition—one week with him for every year of desertion. Six weeks as his wife in his castle...in his bed...in exchange for her freedom.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lady Aisla Maclaren has been living in Paris for years.  Her best friend has suddenly asked her to marry him. There is a big obstacle to that,  a certain Highlander she left behind in Scotland.
Laird Niall Maclaren has spent the last few years dragging himself out of the bottle and rebuilding his life.  His family keep telling him that he needs a woman,  but nobody can take the place of the one that he sent away.
An emotional story with lovely characters that have a tendency toward self destructive behaviour.  Our hero had something taken from him as a lad,  and has spent the rest of his life trying to prove he is not a cripple.  Jealousy and temper tantrums play a big part in the difficulties they face.
This does say it's the first in a series but I know I've met this hero before when he was a young lad.  A very entertaining read.

My Scot, My Surrender (Lords of Essex #4) by Amalie Howard &, Angie Morgan. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

SCOTLAND, 1819.

Brandt Montgomery Pierce is a bastard—and proud of it. Raised by the Duke of Bradburne, Brandt enjoys an uncommon life of privilege. Despite the mystery surrounding his birth, he has wealth and opportunity, and wants nothing more. Especially not a wife.

Lady Sorcha Maclaren, the fiery and scarred daughter of Laird Maclaren, the Duke of Dunrannoch, is desperate to avoid marriage to a loathsome marquess at any cost...even if it means risking a kiss with a handsome stranger at a Scottish border festival.

But after an innocent kiss turns into a scandalously public embrace, Sorcha and Brandt get more than they bargained for—a swift trip to the altar. When danger chases them into the Highlands, and deceit threatens to tear them apart, their only hope will be to surrender...to each other.

๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

Stable Master,  Brant Montgomery Pierce has made the long journey from Essex to Scotland for many reasons.  The one that is on his mind at the beginning of our story is  buying a stallion he has his heart set on.  The owner of the horse is about to turn his whole life upside down.
Sorcha Maclaren is known as the Beast of Maclaren because of her appearance.  She is a warrior in her own right,  but at the beginning of our story she is trying desperately to avoid her duty.
Our hero carries a heavy load of emotional baggage.  It affects the way he sees himself and women.  He will soon learn nothing is quite as it seems,  even himself.
Our heroine is incredibly brave, and has put a hard shell around her feelings most of her life.  She will soon find her soft center.
An all action highland adventure with fantastic characters, lots of excitement and danger.
This is part of a series, but each book can be read alone.
I have loved all of them.

Lord Nicholas Wakefield has been summoned home by his mother from his grand tour.  He has been having a marvellous time with a friend he made there.  He can't wait to tell his best childhood friend all about his adventures , and let her know how much he missed her.
Miss Amelia Bishop is the youngest daughter of a very rich man.  Unfortunately the money hasn't stopped them from being shunned by society.  The oldest daughter has a spinal problem so the "ton" class her as defective.  The sisters are the very best of friends and very protective of each other.  Amelia has recently got engaged to be married but is having second thoughts.
This is quite an historical romp.  Our sisters are so loving, but devious.  Our hero tries very hard to be a responsible member of his family, but his very naughty friends keep throwing him in at the deep end.  I giggled my way through this.  It's great fun.  I think I can see who is going to be the hero in Julia's story and I can't wait to read it.
