Isabel De Vere is all grown up and ready to marry. Once an outgoing and vibrant young girl, she cannot get over the kidnapping of her sister, Gemma, eight years ago. Prone to episodes of panic, Isabel wishes for just one thing a in husband -a man strong enough to protect her.
Turstin has spent his life in Normandy in service to King Henry II. Now home in England , he is ready to take a wife. Though he finds Isabel to be suitable, love is the last thing on his mind. When he marries her he will get the one thing he cares about, Renoir Castle.
Turstin displays a distain for Isabel´s family that she does not understand, nor does he explain. Initially seeking a strong husband to protect her, Isabel now wants him to love her, just as she loves him. Will his life long resentment of her family and his desire to claim Renoir Castle lead them astray or will they right the wrongs of the past. ?
I have been lucky enough to receive an ARC but that will not colour my review in any way.

Isabel de Vere has been fostering at her friend Constance's home for the last two years. Now the King has chosen a husband for her. So Isabel is on her way home to Blackstone. Constance is to travel with her and stay for the wedding.
Turstin is a landless Knight in service to the king. He has been given the hand of Isabel and the abandoned Renoir Castle that is her dowry. Having no family or home for many years has made Turstin a dark and moody man. He is good and just at heart, which is why the King rewarded him in this particular way. He has heard stories of what happened at the castle, but Isabel's family tell it differently.
Isabel is terrified of going to live in a place where there are so many bad memories. She is a timid girl who has severe reactions to stress.
There is danger ahead to be faced, and the ultimate reward to reap.

This is the 2nd book in the series. It can be read on it's own, but if you want to understand everything about the families involved you should read book #1 A Stormy Knight. first. This is a book with plenty of action and adventure that doesn't use sex to make it enjoyable.
Amy Mullen is a freelance writer and romance author living in Corning ,NY. with her husband Patrick ,her two children ,and an orange cat named Steve. She is the author of A Stormy Knight and Redefining Rayne.
Amy has been writing about love both lost and regained since she was old enough to have her first broken heart. Her love of history and her intermittent jaunts into amateur genealogy led her to a love affair with historical fiction. When not writing , she snaps pictures, enjoys the company of her children , and when time allows , loves to bury her nose in a good book.
