A particularly vicious serial killer has escaped from prison, and taken a female police detective.  DCI Ryan and his team know that the killer has deliberately targeted one of their own because they are the ones that caught him the first time.  Everyone is working all hours to try and find him before the body count gets any higher.  While the killer is taunting them and proving just how brilliant he is. Is  detective MacKenzie being held or is she already dead?  We know but the team don't.  Our devious killer seems to be able to do anything he wants right under their noses.
A marvellous thriller, that follows both sides of crimes.  We are given details of the crime scenes that play on the minds and emotions of the police because they are staged to do exactly that.
This is part of a series but you could read any of them on it's own.  It's only the personal relationships of members of the team that follow a timeline.
A book that will certainly keep you enthralled from first to last.
