MY ARC REVIEW

Luciana Vintello has been brought up in a convent as an orphan.  She and the other girls on the island consider themselves sisters.  The reason for Luciana being hidden since birth soon becomes apparent.  Her special gifts will be very valuable when her new life starts.  
Leofric of Benwick is the Lord Protector of the realm and nephew to a devious king.  He is also known as the beast because he can kill with just a simple touch.  His gift has caused him pain and torment all his life.  
This is set in a fantasy land with four kingdoms who are always at war.  It will take a lot of magic from the "Embraced" to bring peace to just this one of the kingdoms.  
Lots of wonderful adventure and what looks at first like a hopeless love story.  Secrets and political intrigue spice it up nicely.  
This is obviously the first book in a series and I can't wait to read the next one.  I loved it.
