Whitestone Manor is being prepared for a wedding. It will be the first time that anyone outside the family has been inside the grounds for many years.
Grayson Winters is the second son of the family, and has always considered himself the black sheep.
Since the death of their parents the Winters siblings lived with uncle Sebastian. With his death they must all step up and take over all the family business. Grayson feels like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders, with no relief in sight. His brother is so happy, but that type of happiness will never be for him. The girl he has wanted for the last ten years is so far out of his reach. His family's business is far to dangerous for outsiders to be close to.
Ava Prescott is the daughter of the local banker. Her father is extremely strict and controlling. He particularly warns Grayson to stay away from her.
This might sound like your typical Romeo and Juliet story but there is a much more sinister side to this one. Grayson and his family hunt and kill devil worshipers. There have recently been some mysterious disappearances. There could well be an other group about.

After the deaths of their parents Orson, his two brother's and his sister are taken to Whitestone. This is the home of his uncle that their father walked away from to attempt to give his family a normal life. The family business is much more than the copper mine, that just supplies the wealth.
The siblings lead a strictly organised life, because their real job will be to protect the innocent from the Sons of the Serpent.
Another family of fighters come to help out with a large group. Lilith is a very independent woman, used to fighting and looking after herself. When Orson tries his over protective attitude with her , she has to put him right.
This is a story that gives us ordinary people doing a heroic job. How they keep the things they do from the authorities is a bit of a mystery. Lots of fights, danger and plenty of emotion. I look forward to the next in the series.
